Huntington Drive Safe Streets Corridor Plan
The City of San Marino, through the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), received a California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant, which is focused on improving safety and mobility on Huntington Drive.
The Huntington Drive Safe Streets Corridor Plan is a planning document that is focused on Huntington Drive in the City of San Marino and it is intended to provide a vision for the future of the corridor.
The plan is being developed to identify polices, projects, and/or programs that will help ensure the corridor functions safely and effectively for all community members now and in the future.

As part of this effort, the City is also working with San Marino schools along Huntington Drive to improve safety and access through education and programs. Please take this brief survey, your responses will help guide our planners to areas of concerns within our community.

AD HOC ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS
The Ad Hoc Advisory Committee is comprised of a variety of stakeholders – residents, business owners, neighborhood leaders, service organizations, youth, schools, and the City’s Fire and Police departments.
Committee members will assist in the creation of a planning document for the Huntington Drive Corridor. This planning document will serve to address pedestrian and motorists’ safety as well as the visual aesthetics along the corridor in an effort to reinforce community identity.

The plan is being developed through a bottom-up approach. Local input on the plan is encouraged through the Ad Hoc Committee meetings and community workshops, which will be held over the course of the project to ensure that the plan addresses regional and local issues and needs. There will be a total of two (2) Community workshops, each approximately two hours.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
There are five (5) schools included in the Huntington Drive Safe Streets Corridor Plan which includes Safe Routes to School Programs. The schools below are eligible for Traffic Safety Education and Encouragement programs to be conducted at the schools for the students.
These programs include Student Traffic Safety Assemblies for all grade levels, conducted in the school’s auditorium, taught age-appropriately, to engage and involve the students to bring awareness of pedestrian, bicycle, scooter, skateboard, helmet and general traffic safety issues. Also included is the message of using alternative modes of transportation for health benefits, reducing auto congestion and emissions. The programs are presented in an entertaining way while teaching valuable life-saving lessons.
The program also includes Student Safety Rodeos/Active Transportation Skill Courses conducted outdoors on the school’s blacktop, which includes hands-on training on a simulated Safety City/Skill Course, which is taught age-appropriately to increase the need for focus, rules of the road and building skills which make the students safer while traveling throughout the community.
